Wealdstone continued their early pre-season preparations on Saturday with a 3-3 draw at Evo-Stick League Division One side Biggleswade Town. The match was summed up by Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett as a ‘very useful but sloppy performance’.

Whilst it was another good workout for Stones there was more bad news on the injury front with Lee Chappell going off with a groin problem, and then Nikki Ahamed being carried off with a serious looking ankle injury that could keep him sidelined for several weeks. Stones were already without centre backs Sean Cronin, who took a knee in the back at the Watford match, and Alan Massey who is still recovering from a spinal injury.

A strong looking home side had the better of the first half and went in two goals up at the break through Harry Hunt and Ashley Fuller. Wealdstone improved after the break though, and they pulled one back through a penalty from Peter Dean. They then equalised when central defender Wes Parker prodded home from close range. Stones then thought they’d won it late on when Richard Jolly fired home with 5 minutes to play, however they were undone when Fuller scored his second of the afternoon just a minute later.

Wealdstone can now look forward to Tuesday night’s friendly with League One side Wycombe Wanderers, 7.45 kick off, at The Vale.
