Marvin proves he is the real McCoy
Marvin McCoy has become the latest Wealdstone player to move from the Ryman League club into professional football following his move to Wycombe Wanderers today.
The 21-year-old right-back signed a one-year contract after impressing during a successful trial spell in recent weeks.
Marvin follows Jermaine Beckford, Graeme Montgomery, Carl Martin and Reece Yorke, who have all made the move into league football during the past few seasons.
Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett said: “I am delighted for Marvin because he is not only a good player, but a genuine person who has been a pleasure to work with over the last couple of seasons and thoroughly deserves this opportunity. He responded well after being released by Watford and proved what can be achieved with a bit of hard work and determination.
“The transfers of Jermaine, Monty, Reece and Carl all went smoothly because we were always in control of the situation. We have known exactly what was going on from day one, negotiated directly with the clubs and had healthy communication with any agents involved. All parties came out happy.
“It’s been disappointing that has not always been the case in this instance, but we are content with the final deal and we are delighted for Marvin that he can now join the full time ranks of professional football. He will always be welcome back at Wealdstone.”
