Wealdstone kicked off their pre-season schedule on Tuesday evening with a typically hard work out against a very lively looking Chalfont side.

Stones choose to use this match as an opportunity to play and test a total of 22 different players comprising first team regulars and a number of trialists. These included 18 year old midfielder Kurtney Brooks recently released by Championship side Watford FC and Austrian goal keeper Roman Pechhanger.

Stones looked the most effective using their first half team with Brooks combining well with the hard working Peter Dean who crashed an early strike against an upright.

But it was new striker Scott Fitzgerald who stole the limelight with a well struck free kick that left the home keeper stranded after 20 minutes.

In the second half, with an entirely different line up, despite some excellent forward play from Kieron Forbes and Danny Spendlove in particular, Stones toiled in the humid conditions allowing Chalfont to boss the midfield and the home side ran out comfortable winners following a defensive error and two well taken strikes.

Stones continue their pre season games next Monday (26 July) when they entertain League One Dagenham & Redbridge at The Vale), followed by another home encounter this time with Championship side Watford FC on Wednesday 28 July. Both games kick off at 7.45pm
