Potters Bar 0 – 3 Wealdstone
0 - 3
Stones cruised to a 3-0 win at Potters Bar on Saturday and fielded a total of 18 players to allow Gordon Bartlett and his management team to further assess several prospective new players. Wealdstone were in full control for most of this match and had at least five good opportunities in the first 10 minutes but were not able to make the breakthrough. Danny Spendlove and Ben Abbey looked very lively up front with some penetrating runs whilst the defence and midfield looked very solid.
But eventually the pressure told and Ben Abbey was put through to round the keeper with aplomb for the opener and then Ben Alexander got his sides second with a terrific drive from the left. Stones ended the first period playing some great passing football but couldn’t add to the scoreline as Abbey was thwarted by good last ditch defending.
The away side added their third and final goal minutes into the second period when Ben Abbey grabbed his second following a good run and cross from Lee Chappell who was making his first pre season appearance having recently returned from holiday. Bartlett used all of his available substitutes in the second half with Charlie Mpi again catching the eye with his pace and work rate up front.
Greg Ngoyi has a knee injury and was not able to play on Saturday.
Wealdstone: Woods, During, Jones, Gray, Fitzgerald, Ashe, Forbes, O’Leary, Abbey, Alexander, Spendlove. Subs (all used): McCoy, Massey, Locke, Osborne, Ibalia, Chappell, Mpi.
