Leatherhead 0 – 0 Wealdstone
0 - 0
Wealdstone drew 0-0 at Leatherhead last night in their latest of their warm up matches.
The Tanners had the best of the first half and Richard Barnard in the Stones goal was kept busier than his opposite number. He brought off several excellent saves but was beaten once when Will Jenkins saw his shot cannon back off the crossbar. At the other end the Leatherhead keeper made one good save from a sharp Stephen Hughes shot during this half. Luke Woods took over in goal for the second half and wasn’t involved as much as Barnard had been in the first period. Wealdstone did most of the attacking during this half with youngster Nick Salapatas a constant threat down the left wing. Near the end Stones hit the woodwork with a fierce shot.
Stones have now had two goalless draws in succession, albeit in friendly matches. The last time Stones achieved this was in April 1997 and by a strange coincidence the second one was also at Leatherhead. We had drawn 0-0 at Kingsbury Town in a Ryman League (Division 3) match before going to Leatherhead in the semi-final of the Isthmian League Associate Members Cup and drawing 0-0 after extra time. We won the replay 3-1
